بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. ▶ 1Juz 30 · page 585☆

   عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ ﴿١﴾

   'Abasa wa tawallaa.

   The Prophet frowned and turned away

2. ▶ 2Juz 30 · page 585☆

   أَن جَآءَهُ ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ ﴿٢﴾

   An jaa-ahul 'a-maa

   Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting].

3. ▶ 3Juz 30 · page 585☆

   وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُۥ يَزَّكَّىٰٓ ﴿٣﴾

   Wa maa yudreeka la'allahu yaz zakkaa.

   But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified

4. ▶ 4Juz 30 · page 585☆

   أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنفَعَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰٓ ﴿٤﴾

   Au yaz zak karu fatanfa 'ahuz zikraa.

   Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him?

5. ▶ 5Juz 30 · page 585☆

   أَمَّا مَنِ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰ ﴿٥﴾

   Amma manis taghnaa

   As for he who thinks himself without need,

6. ▶ 6Juz 30 · page 585☆

   فَأَنتَ لَهُۥ تَصَدَّىٰ ﴿٦﴾

   Fa-anta lahu tasaddaa

   To him you give attention.

7. ▶ 7Juz 30 · page 585☆

   وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّىٰ ﴿٧﴾

   Wa ma 'alaika allaa yaz zakka.

   And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified.

8. ▶ 8Juz 30 · page 585☆

   وَأَمَّا مَن جَآءَكَ يَسْعَىٰ ﴿٨﴾

   Wa amma man jaa-aka yas'a

   But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge]

9. ▶ 9Juz 30 · page 585☆

   وَهُوَ يَخْشَىٰ ﴿٩﴾

   Wahuwa yakhshaa,

   While he fears [Allah],

10. ▶ 10Juz 30 · page 585☆

    فَأَنتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّىٰ ﴿١٠﴾

    Fa-anta 'anhu talah haa.

    From him you are distracted.

11. ▶ 11Juz 30 · page 585☆

    كَلَّآ إِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَةٌۭ ﴿١١﴾

    Kalla innaha tazkirah

    No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder;

12. ▶ 12Juz 30 · page 585☆

    فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ ﴿١٢﴾

    Faman shaa a zakarah

    So whoever wills may remember it.

13. ▶ 13Juz 30 · page 585☆

    فِى صُحُفٍۢ مُّكَرَّمَةٍۢ ﴿١٣﴾

    Fi suhufim mukar rama,

    [It is recorded] in honored sheets,

14. ▶ 14Juz 30 · page 585☆

    مَّرْفُوعَةٍۢ مُّطَهَّرَةٍۭ ﴿١٤﴾

    Marfoo'atim mutah hara,

    Exalted and purified,

15. ▶ 15Juz 30 · page 585☆

    بِأَيْدِى سَفَرَةٍۢ ﴿١٥﴾

    Bi'aidee safara

    [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels,

16. ▶ 16Juz 30 · page 585☆

    كِرَامٍۭ بَرَرَةٍۢ ﴿١٦﴾

    Kiraamim bararah.

    Noble and dutiful.

17. ▶ 17Juz 30 · page 585☆

    قُتِلَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مَآ أَكْفَرَهُۥ ﴿١٧﴾

    Qutilal-insanu maa akfarah.

    Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he.

18. ▶ 18Juz 30 · page 585☆

    مِنْ أَىِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقَهُۥ ﴿١٨﴾

    Min aiyyi shai-in Khalaq

    From what substance did He create him?

19. ▶ 19Juz 30 · page 585☆

    مِن نُّطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُۥ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ ﴿١٩﴾

    Min nutfah; khalaqahu faqad-darah.

    From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him;

20. ▶ 20Juz 30 · page 585☆

    ثُمَّ ٱلسَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُۥ ﴿٢٠﴾

    Thummas sabeela yas-sarah

    Then He eased the way for him;

21. ▶ 21Juz 30 · page 585☆

    ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُۥ فَأَقْبَرَهُۥ ﴿٢١﴾

    Thumma amatahu fa-aqbarah

    Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him.

22. ▶ 22Juz 30 · page 585☆

    ثُمَّ إِذَا شَآءَ أَنشَرَهُۥ ﴿٢٢﴾

    Thumma iza shaa-a ansharah

    Then when He wills, He will resurrect him.

23. ▶ 23Juz 30 · page 585☆

    كَلَّا لَمَّا يَقْضِ مَآ أَمَرَهُۥ ﴿٢٣﴾

    Kalla lamma yaqdi maa amarah.

    No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him.

24. ▶ 24Juz 30 · page 585☆

    فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِهِۦٓ ﴿٢٤﴾

    Falyanzuril insanu ilaa ta-amih

    Then let mankind look at his food -

25. ▶ 25Juz 30 · page 585☆

    أَنَّا صَبَبْنَا ٱلْمَآءَ صَبًّۭا ﴿٢٥﴾

    Anna sabab nalmaa-a sabba.

    How We poured down water in torrents,

26. ▶ 26Juz 30 · page 585☆

    ثُمَّ شَقَقْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ شَقًّۭا ﴿٢٦﴾

    Thumma sha qaqnal-arda shaqqa.

    Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts],

27. ▶ 27Juz 30 · page 585☆

    فَأَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا حَبًّۭا ﴿٢٧﴾

    Fa ambatna feeha habba

    And caused to grow within it grain

28. ▶ 28Juz 30 · page 585☆

    وَعِنَبًۭا وَقَضْبًۭا ﴿٢٨﴾

    Wa 'inabaw-wa qadba

    And grapes and herbage

29. ▶ 29Juz 30 · page 585☆

    وَزَيْتُونًۭا وَنَخْلًۭا ﴿٢٩﴾

    Wa zaitoonaw wanakh la'

    And olive and palm trees

30. ▶ 30Juz 30 · page 585☆

    وَحَدَآئِقَ غُلْبًۭا ﴿٣٠﴾

    Wa hadaa-iqa ghulba

    And gardens of dense shrubbery

31. ▶ 31Juz 30 · page 585☆

    وَفَٰكِهَةًۭ وَأَبًّۭا ﴿٣١﴾

    Wa faki hataw-wa abba.

    And fruit and grass -

32. ▶ 32Juz 30 · page 585☆

    مَّتَٰعًۭا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَٰمِكُمْ ﴿٣٢﴾

    Mata'al-lakum wa li-an'amikum.

    [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock.

33. ▶ 33Juz 30 · page 585☆

    فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلصَّآخَّةُ ﴿٣٣﴾

    Faiza jaa-atis saakhah.

    But when there comes the Deafening Blast

34. ▶ 34Juz 30 · page 585☆

    يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ ٱلْمَرْءُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ ﴿٣٤﴾

    Yauma yafir-rul mar-u min akheeh

    On the Day a man will flee from his brother

35. ▶ 35Juz 30 · page 585☆

    وَأُمِّهِۦ وَأَبِيهِ ﴿٣٥﴾

    Wa ummihee wa abeeh

    And his mother and his father

36. ▶ 36Juz 30 · page 585☆

    وَصَٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَبَنِيهِ ﴿٣٦﴾

    Wa sahi batihee wa baneeh.

    And his wife and his children,

37. ▶ 37Juz 30 · page 585☆

    لِكُلِّ ٱمْرِئٍۢ مِّنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ شَأْنٌۭ يُغْنِيهِ ﴿٣٧﴾

    Likul limri-im-minuhm yaumaa-izin shaa nuy-yughneeh

    For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him.

38. ▶ 38Juz 30 · page 585☆

    وُجُوهٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ مُّسْفِرَةٌۭ ﴿٣٨﴾

    Wujoo huny-yauma-izim-musfira;

    [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright -

39. ▶ 39Juz 30 · page 585☆

    ضَاحِكَةٌۭ مُّسْتَبْشِرَةٌۭ ﴿٣٩﴾

    Dahi katum mustab shirah

    Laughing, rejoicing at good news.

40. ▶ 40Juz 30 · page 585☆

    وَوُجُوهٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَةٌۭ ﴿٤٠﴾

    Wa wujoohuy yauma-izin 'alaiha ghabar a

    And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust.

41. ▶ 41Juz 30 · page 585☆

    تَرْهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ ﴿٤١﴾

    Tarhaquha qatarah.

    Blackness will cover them.

42. ▶ 42Juz 30 · page 585☆

    أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَفَرَةُ ٱلْفَجَرَةُ ﴿٤٢﴾

    Ulaa-ika humul-kafa ratul-fajarah.

    Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones.
